This one is an impressive work, and despite a relatively high price, may be worth your time if you want a thorough introduction to designing and modeling characters in Blender. Ive pretty much watched all of the modelling tutorials on there and even checked different sources like artists that do their modeling on maya.

In the end, i smooth cnaracter out and combine them. After all, no matter what style you use, with enough detail, the end result should always be the same. I actually use all three of their styles to create my characters. You do need to know Blender but the author shows you everything. That would be very good information before investing some money. That is so true! The book does not go very deep into animation or rigging, and it only gives a very brief introduction to lighting fharacter ordinary texture mapping. TOP 10 Related.
The first thing to note is that Blenderella is not a beginners DVD. Very little time is taken to go over the basics of how to use Blender, although Ms Guenette does cover the basics of the Blender 2. You are expected to know the basic ins and outs of Blender before you watch this DVD. I personally think a beginner may be able to follow along so long as they know the basics of vertex manipulation, but they would have to be paying complete attention as things move along at a fairly brisk rate on this DVD. A combination of commentary and timelapsed sequences are used to explain and visualize the various steps and processes involed in modeling a high quality but not vertex heavy 3D model of a woman from start to finish. The start of the DVD goes over how to use and setup reference images before you start modeling within Blender.
